“The icon work at Evangelistria began a year ago and is progressing well. We thank everyone for their incredible support.”
– Alexandra Katsampi
The Church of Evangelistria in Karitsa is steadily becoming a breathtaking masterpiece of art and faith, thanks to the ongoing iconography project that started a year ago. Alexandra Katsampi sent 56 new photos that highlight the impressive progress of this sacred work, which has deeply touched the hearts of all Karitsiotes, both at home and abroad.
A Journey of Faith and Creativity
After last year’s successful first stages, the project is now entering an even richer phase. Dozens of new icons recently added to the church’s interior have brought renewed spiritual energy, turning the space into a living testament to faith, tradition, and community effort.
The artistic direction, led by experienced iconographer Triantafyllos Kagias and his dedicated team, stays true to Byzantine traditions and church artistry.
Alexandra Katsampi, closely involved in the project, shared: “The iconography began a year ago and is moving ahead smoothly. We’re grateful for the overwhelming support from everyone.”
Icons Uniting a Community
The response from Karitsa’s community, both in Greece and beyond, has been heartfelt and unwavering. The emotional impact of the saints’ portraits and biblical scenes hasn’t just deepened local devotion, it’s also bridged generations, reconnecting people with their shared roots.
As noted in earlier updates: “We’ve seen huge support from Karitsa’s diaspora, and even from those without direct ties to our village.”
This project is no longer just about beauty; it’s a collective act of memory, faith, and identity. Evangelistria Church is now a symbol of unity, offering both a sacred refuge and a place that tells the story of Karitsa’s soul.
What’s Next for the Icons?
Spurred by Alexandra and Father Christos Karydogiannis, the church committee is preparing for the next phase: painting the upper areas of the church with rich biblical themes. These will complete the visual and spiritual identity of Evangelistria.
Alexandra adds: “Anyone wishing to donate can reach out to me directly.”
Every contribution, big or small, helps build a space that reflects our history, faith, and community spirit.
The iconography at Evangelistria isn’t just art, it’s a revival of shared memory and faith. A heartfelt thanks to all who support this vision. Karitsa truly shines through the light of its saints.
