“The project has had a remarkable impact! There’s been a strong response from Karitsiotes worldwide, along with others less connected to our village.”

The church of the Evangelistria is making significant progress in its second phase of adorning all walls with ecclesiastical art, following an enthusiastic response from the local community to the first. To date, 55 icons have been installed, with a further 48 planned for after Easter, adding even more spiritual and artistic depth to the sanctuary.

The church committee and villagers have warmly welcomed the project's progress, which continues under the skilled hand of iconographer Triantafyllos Kagias and his team. Alexandra Katsampi, a project representative, notes that public interest remains high: “People are really getting behind this, and we're still receiving new commissions. There are still icons and larger panels available for those who wish to contribute.”

The project's success is a testament to the dedication and support of the villagers, who contribute both financially and through their enthusiastic involvement. “The iconography of the Evangelistra is bringing the community together,” says Alexandra. “The colours and images of the saints strengthen our faith and unity.”

With the second phase nearing completion, the church committee is already planning to extend the iconography to the upper areas of the church, adding new biblical scenes to further enrich this sacred space. Fr. Christos Karydoyiannis, the village priest, is deeply moved by the fact that the project has become a symbol of unity and shared identity for all the villagers of Karitsa.

The committee remains dedicated to completing the artistic beautification of the church. Those wishing to contribute can contact Alexandra for information on available icons. This project continues to inspire devotion and a shared desire to preserve our cultural and spiritual heritage, making the Evangelistria a joyful space of faith and art.
